The end of summer doesn't mean the fun's over in Coney Island.
The New York Aquarium, Coney Island Museum and Coney Island Beach Shop are all open year 'round.
Come see the sharks, walruses, penguins, sea lions and other animals. Be fascinated by the stories and memorabilia of Coney's extraordinary history. And, bring home your own souvenirs to create your own Coney history.
There is plenty to eat all year in Coney too. Warm your belly with food from local treasures like Footprints Cafe and William's Candy, and New York icons like Nathan's, Gargiullo's, and Totonno's Pizzeria - set to reopen in October.
In addition, fall and winter are wonderful seasons for enjoying the beach and the Riegelmann Boardwalk - one of the most historic boardwalks in the U.S - and for exploring Coney without all the crowds. Download the Coney Island History Project's free audio walking tour, and spend a day being swept up in the story and legend of The People's Playground.
The Wonder Wheel keeps spinning on weekends and holidays through October, continuing to offer gorgeous views of a serene beachscape.
And in November, the Polar Bears come out to Coney. Not real ones of course, but those gluttons for cold, the Coney Island Polar Bears Club. Through April they come out every Sunday to dip their paws in the icy Atlantic. If you don't want to join, you're more than welcome to spectate. Their New Years dip is a beloved New York City tradition.
So don't let the changing seasons keep you away. Come show your love for Coney all year...there's plenty of FUN to be had!
